The eddy current separator is a non-ferrous separator that Goudsmit has been producing and improving for many years.

Eddy current separators have a conveyor belt system with a rapidly rotating magnetic rotor. The high rotation speed of the magnets generates an induction field, producing a quickly alternating magnetic field.

The separation is based on the principle that every electrically conductive particle located in an alternating magnetic field becomes magnetic. In other words, for a brief time all the metals that pass the magnetic roller are made magnetic, allowing them to be ejected.

In this manner it is possible to separate a great many non-ferrous metals (and non-ferrous alloys), including aluminium, copper and brass. The separation of stainless steel, lead and copper wire can be achieved more effectively with the i-sens-separators.

Typical applications:

  • the removal of aluminium caps for the glass recycling industry;
  • the removal of brass rivets and hinges in the wood recycling industry;
  • the removal of non-ferrous metals from slags produced by waste incineration facilities;
  • the processing of scrap or household waste.

Construction

The installation consists of a shaker machine, a conveyor belt with the separator roller and a control box. The shaker trough ensures that the product is optimally distributed across the belt to improve the ‘contact’ between the magnetic field and the metal. The powerful eddy current magnetic roller rotates at the end of this belt. A separation flap keeps the separation as pure as possible. The control box provides regulation of the capacity of the shaker trough, the speed of the separation roller and the speed of the belt. This makes it possible to optimally configure the separator for every product.
